I fixed it
Seriously don’t ask me how I did it – but the sites working again. When my blogs take off, I’m so hiring someone to do the tech stuff for me. I can propogate plants but not ‘DNS’.
Anyhoo fortunately I had all the content saved – it didn’t take off on hubpages – so was able to pop it all back on here.
I’m doing a lot of work on other blog projects so this will be a personal blog. I’ve had months to catch up on stuff so I’m no longer naive about comics and sci fi – I get it now.
I’ll be discussing random stuff with geeky undertones: comics, anime, manga, sci fi. Whatever makes me want to shout to the world about it.
I know no-one particular cares this blog has returned to the blogosphere, but its important to me!
Dumbledore is gay – a belated response
I honestly don’t know why I feel so cut up about this. Its certainly nothing against homosexuals!
If he was gay, at the age he was working with Grindleward they would have been sexual partners. Thus he had to defeat someone with whom he had shared an intimate part of himself. That might have justified some of his actions that seemed selfish at the time.
I understand that the same over reacting parents may have been concerned about the possible implications of having a gay character in the book but Rowling could have done it skillfully enough so only the adults would have understood.
I laughed at the backlash by some parents about ‘Bitch’ being used. Especially the same morons who reposted saying “Well, I wasn’t the one who said what happened” in response to the rest who were arguing that swearing can be used within context.
Oh yes – I recall a famous author stepping into the debate stating “Sometimes, there is no literary equivilant to certain words.” I request anyone considering otherwise, email me for a Documentary recommendation.
I think its a sense of betrayel that we weren’t trusted as an audience, but thankfully she is kind enough to keep fans in the loop.
Baluka can sing!
Whilst in the middle of my Quantum obsession, I discovered that he can actually sing. Now I have to track down the many recommended recordings! Anyone have any hints on where to find these two?
- Anyone Can Whistle – Live at Carnegie Hall (1995 Broadway Concert Cast) [LIVE] [CAST RECORDING]
- soundtrack of the Broadway production of “Romance, Romance.”
I hope if he is in another production, it comes to Australia. He is sublime with his acting. He’s like the acting equivalent of Zimmer and Gold combined and that is the highest compliment.
I miss that series.
Showing My Age Again
Yesterday I partook in a DVD swap session. I was asked if I’d seen the old war of the Worlds. I have somewhat overdosed on this franchise so the only connection I could make was ..
.. “The one where they spent most of the movie hiding behind a car?”
Thus unwittingly unleashing the comic within.
Watch four seasons of Quantum Leap in a week and see if your brain is working!
A great Sporting day in Geelongs history
Yesterday was a day that will probably be discussed when I’m 60. Geelong won the grand final.
Upon hearing of the win, the town went insane and I couldn’t blame them. Cheers and horns honking for hours; parties at neighbouring houses.
What was Jade doing? Turning the volume up on the first series of the Original Twilight zone.
My stories more interesting!
Are young nerds snobs?
My landlords are unofficial, and oft referred to, mentors. They are 15 years older than me yet at times, seem much older.
I live in a different world to them. They are the smartest and funnest people I know, yet aren’t really into technology as I am. I consider myself technologically illerate for not understanding Digg and StumbleUpon. I’ve only recently been able to get them into Ipods and podcasts.
Yet who out of us has the life of most enrichment? Not I.
I, Jade Craven, am a snob. I:
- laughed my way through the exorcist because of dodgy SFX
- only recently started watching films in black and white
- struggled to watch Life on Mars because of how corrupt and dirty it was
- didn’t take David Bowie seriously until I saw Labyrinth
- couldn’t appreciate the original terminators and Back to the Futures like one should
- struggle to appreciate a score without any synth.
Do any other young nerds, or female ones, find similar? I am working to be more appreciative of classic icons but it does take time to wrap my head around.
Radcliffe on Rove last night – plus comic musings!
A slight diversion from my usual ramblings. I watched Rove last night and thoroughly enjoyed Radcliffes interview. He proved why he is such a success; researching the interviewer and being a good sport. Good on him for his maturity. Now bring that theatre production to Australia
To the point – new discovery. I had read about the Heroes comics. I didn’t know if was available for free, online. :grins: Go to the Heroes website and that will hopefully be enough to whet your appetite until the new Seasons.
Read some more Superman; god its trippy reading it out of Sequence. Especially when Animation and dialogue stages, and then theres some massive DC crossover that happened in 2001, don’t understand that.
I have also been on the hunt for an actual pair of high heels. I want to incorporate a comic theme into my look, yet also love designer clothing. :shrugs: Shall post my findings in my Mystyle diary!
I have been researching other graphic novels I want to get into. I want to see the adaptions of Anne Rices novel.
Oh, and watched BargeArse today. They made a mention of Passiona something. Cracked up laughing because of a Get This reference; Passiona High.
Attacks on us Nerds
I was hunting for a T-Shirt when I came across this silly post. Its annoying moreso than anything else – as a chick I’m meant to have boobs and theres nothing wrong with geekiness. Not all geeks fall into the stereotype the media, and movies, go on about. I admit I was making similar jokes about the upcoming convention, but I don’t fall into any of those categories. Why?
1. I shower regularly
2. I’m quite slender. Still got a bit to go before I can fit into a wonder Woman outfit though.
3. The only Japanese writing on my shirts is the name of the character, which is usually a cute animal.
4. I have a clear complexion
5. I moved out of home.
I feel for the male nerds but what about us female ones? I’m a perfectly functional member of society; only I care more about certain interests than others.
Another thing thats alienating if your half nerd, half normal young adult. I can watch Twilight Zone episodes and switch straight Australian Idol.
Lol I’ll say this repeatedly – what I’d give to have a chat to Comedians Tony Martin or Ed Kavalee.
I-what?
I’ve been trying to convert my landlords to certain aspects of technology for some time. My burner is being a goose again, so I have lent Mentor my Ipod instead. Its so much more efficient in terms of listening, and the environment. Lol, it was fun though because even though it first confused me using it, I was shocked that he didn’t know to turn it off or a click wheel.
;_; I’m a technosnob. The main reason I lent it was because I am STILL laughing over the podcast, where Ed Kavalee (from awesome geek radio podcast, Get This) got electrocuted. Fake or not – awesome ‘ohh wa wa ahh OW!’
Though when showing the click wheel I was told it was similar to something out of Bond. Is that a chicken or the egg situation, then?
Score! Scores Galore!
Recently I got a number of items back from mentor that had been lent, gosh, months ago. I wasn’t too worried about getting them back but now I’m doing this Radio course, really needed the dollars. My anime sold well; theres this lovely chap I sold most of my first batch too. He seemed to be a genuine collector so emailed him before listing them on oztion. Within three days, moneys in the bank and sent off! Glad its going to a good home.
But on ebay my scores are already up to $10, after 2 days! Now, I’m a collector, but these certainly aren’t rarity’s. Theres Zimmers Gladiator CD’s, Con Air, Armageddon and Gattaca. Gattaca is the one thats up to $10, which I’m struggling to comprehend. All up I’d like $50 but don’t mind not getting that.
I was talking outside recently, while taking the cat for a walk, about the Terminator score. I have no idea what a .flac extension is and can only listen to it through VLC player. I was listening to the final track on Fiedels second Terminator one, ‘Its Over’. :swoons: That is one great piece of music.
I started by bitching about how the first one was so synth dominated but said in the next breath how I preferred this one because it incorporated both synthetic and traditional instruments. This sort of mirrored the film as Arnie was both human and Robotic at the same time.
….. ?
I’m so glad to live with fellow minds but if I had said that anywhere else! I’m not a huge Terminator fan and I believe that to be quite profound for someone who had only listened to each score once and hasn’t seen the movies in years! If I’m like that with something I’m vaguely interested in, what will it be like with another more intense obsession?
Getting a custom Tee printed that nobody would understand!
