Back to the Future – From Adults eyes

I rewatched this classic last night. My landlord goes on about the trilogy and I couldn’t understand why. I hadn’t rewatched it since overdosing on it as an obsessed child. ‘D’oh!

Every adult should go back and revisit the classics. I loved watching it, especially after hearing about all the associated trivia. It contained some adult themes that went over the young mind!

Its so exciting, I want to play the guitar solo from “Power of Love” Dad informed me, after seeing it of course, that he was actually the original singer.

It was especially fascinating seeing the silvestri score within context of the movie. I had listened to all three by themselves and the only one that impressed, and stuc, was the whimsy of the third one.

His past mother was quite reminscent of Luna Lovegood in some respects. An advantage of having a young mind ;)

I realised that I looked at disdain at both time periods; neither of which I was really part of. Its immature of me to bag something when movies themselves are tamed down from real life, rather than it being a direct portrayel.

The acting, and intricate intertwining, has rendered the franchise as a work of genius. I regret not rewatching it sooner.

I don’t like the comics much though. Was Harvey ever relevant?

Weekend of serious DVD watching

Firstly, found a chicks shirt at jayjays with Wonderwomen on it. :) I can build up the basic ‘geek’ wardrobe for quite cheap, even if none of the items are obscure enough for my liking.

I had a serious weekend of DVD watching. Mentors mate came over and dropped off a lot of DVD’s to lend. :) Once he’s done with them, Jade gets to watch.

Snakes on a Plane. Gratitious and lame are the two main words that spring to mind. Funny and awesome are others! It was dodgy, but the best kind of dodgy; sending itself up while having some funny as snake on man snake action.

I also watched Labrynth; yet another movie done before I was born. Score done by Trevor Jones of GI Jane fame ;) It totally changed my perception of David bowie who looked quite hot in those tight pants. I do like the childrens movie of this era, it reminded my of flight of the Navigator. Such innocence and a sense of wonderment.

Super ex girlfriend already spoken about.

Prestige, was meant to be trippy but was more zzzz than anything else.

Harvey Birdman. Who the.. what the… why? :) Scooby and Shaggy on drugs though, awesome.

Assignments have prevented me from more watching; uni finishes next month woohoo.

Ducks on a Bus: upcoming sequel to Snakes on a Plane.

Just when you thought it was safe to venture outside, natures latest silent killer is upon us.

Ducks.

On a Bus.

Public transport changed forever,

Shortbus

I admit, I had never seen a nude man before except for an occasional glimpse in a film. The first 10 minutes of Shortbus showed me more than I will probably ever see. Of course, I did lend the film to someone who’d actually had some experience, and they dry retched as well, so its not prudishness. Never listen to a years with of Get this podcasts over a short period of time.

Yet, once you got over how confronting some of the footage it was, it was one of the best films I’d seen all year. It was frank, honest, and brilliantly done. It was actually art. All sex scenes were shown within a context and weren’t gratuitous.

By the end of the film you had forgotten it was even about sex; despite it being the main premise. It was an exploration of peoples core, which is where sex often lies. It was visual confronting and yet appealing. The soundtrack was different yet brilliant. The cast and characterisation was unconventional yet fresh.

The final orgy scene was the BEST thing I have ever seen. When I lent it to mum, I showed her the last 10 minutes. I then mentioned I wanted a marching band for my 21st – something immediately rejected. Upon seeing the whole film, she was doing the marching.

This film changed my views on sex completely. I’m not in any hurry to have it, but there is nothing wrong with exploring your sexuality provided your doing so safely.
