Dob in a nerd: Myself
This is based on a recent ‘Get This’ talkback mountain segment. Of course, being the nerd that I am I missed out of in because I don’t have these things called radios. Its either live stream or podcast.
Some recent nerdish revelations:
- The Brassy theme in paycheck that was quite reminiscent of the Kim Beazley theme
- I tell everyone how I aim to be the female equivalent of Tony Martin
- I’m wearing my chasers shirt right now (its a good nightie!)
- In the 1001 movies to see before you die, the first thing I look at is the score.
- I can tell who did the score when listening to a film. ‘Oh, this is a Zimmer’
- I am besotted by comics. Researching everything to do with adaptions; stan lee and Marvel.
- love my anime and Manga, since getting back into it.
- Am fond of hitchcock. As predicted, I nightmared about freakin’ birds but there was a huge thunderstorm last night.
I thought I was more of a nerd. A conversation with one of my landlords though usually confirms it!
I got Get this
No-one will care.
They just played an excerpt for one of Zimmers score on Get This. I thought it was Gladiator before getting out of the streaming window. Oops.
They’ve moved to 2 and listening on the stream reminds me of why I prefer podcasts. I leant my I-dock to duds, so he can listen and recharge the ipod. Seems to like it
Chose the podcasts carefully – A shebang with tony martin, some comic ones and many get this.
Attacks on us Nerds
I was hunting for a T-Shirt when I came across this silly post. Its annoying moreso than anything else – as a chick I’m meant to have boobs and theres nothing wrong with geekiness. Not all geeks fall into the stereotype the media, and movies, go on about. I admit I was making similar jokes about the upcoming convention, but I don’t fall into any of those categories. Why?
1. I shower regularly
2. I’m quite slender. Still got a bit to go before I can fit into a wonder Woman outfit though.
3. The only Japanese writing on my shirts is the name of the character, which is usually a cute animal.
4. I have a clear complexion
5. I moved out of home.
I feel for the male nerds but what about us female ones? I’m a perfectly functional member of society; only I care more about certain interests than others.
Another thing thats alienating if your half nerd, half normal young adult. I can watch Twilight Zone episodes and switch straight Australian Idol.
Lol I’ll say this repeatedly – what I’d give to have a chat to Comedians Tony Martin or Ed Kavalee.
Obscure ‘Get This’ references
Loyalists will know I am a huge fan of Australia show, ‘Get This.’ One of my landlords got me into it, before he got turned off by all the ads. I, however, was fortunate enough to have every podcast. Now that my Ipod has been lent out, I am sharing that fortunate.
Upon relistening I am actually getting the references! Ok, most of those references are one that Dudley (hereafter known as Duds) had spoken to me about before. Recently they made a capricorn one reference that had me giggling. ^^;; I knew about it because I burned a copy of the score for Duds and had the whole thing explained to me. The next one was an Alan Partridge reference – something that had been explained to me the day before.
Hehehe.
I have been writing down the names of the guests on there, adding them to myspace and signing up for mailing lists. Lol I am so stoked – even if uttering ‘Dizzy Stuff, Folks’ means nought to my peers.
Ultimate goal is to know every Get this reference!
Radio Star Molests Gnomes
Fresh from the Donkey Courtroom scandel, panel operator Richard Marsland is once again the centre of controversy.
Marslend, who had previously had a drunken NZ jaunt broadcast on live radio, was caught rearranging gnomes into sexual positions. When confronted, he said “we’ve been caught; lets run away together.”
Soon after, his misreading of instructions led to Kavalees electrocution.
One has to question his judgement, as his repeated calls requesting support from Dean Geyer resulted in police charges.
In April, he was accused of kissing a Donkey on the neck and mouth. Whilest Buddy was considered of sound mind, Marslends sanity is questionable.
When questioned, one of the abused uttered “Oooh, my little gnome plums”
No Tequila for you, sir.
I-what?
I’ve been trying to convert my landlords to certain aspects of technology for some time. My burner is being a goose again, so I have lent Mentor my Ipod instead. Its so much more efficient in terms of listening, and the environment. Lol, it was fun though because even though it first confused me using it, I was shocked that he didn’t know to turn it off or a click wheel.
;_; I’m a technosnob. The main reason I lent it was because I am STILL laughing over the podcast, where Ed Kavalee (from awesome geek radio podcast, Get This) got electrocuted. Fake or not – awesome ‘ohh wa wa ahh OW!’
Though when showing the click wheel I was told it was similar to something out of Bond. Is that a chicken or the egg situation, then?
